The start of a journeyList Item 1
Rec, or Recreational Soccer, is our entry level into the beautiful game. REC Soccer has a heavy emphasis on the teaching and learning of the fundamentals of soccer, all while having fun! We have age divisions all the way from U4, up to U11/12 for the Fall 2021 season. All teams practice at Hemby Bridge Elementary , some once a week (U4 and U6) and some twice (U7 and up). All REC Soccer players U7 and up compete in the Union County Youth Soccer League . Teams typically play 8 games in the regular season, with an end of season tournament held at Optimist Park, Weddington.
Our In-House Teams (U6) , will receive a participation trophy at the conclusion of the season.

U6 CoedList Item 2
This League is geared towards players 4 & 5 years of age There are teams & games at this level. These players are placed on teams and they will practice once a week with their team & coach. The games are played at Hemby Bridge Elementary Soccer Fields on Saturday mornings during the season. The teams will play against other PRAA teams. They will play 5v5 with no goalies. The approach here is to develop foot skills: Dribble with all sides of both feet, Dribble out of trouble, Dribble past someone, Soft first touch, proper passing skills and spacing. This will allow them to make a seamless transition to our next League, U7-COED.

U7 - U8List Item 3
This League is designed for 6-7 years old players who enjoy playing and want to improve their skills and experience. At this stage we emphasize striking the ball properly, Positions, Rules of Game, Spacing, Shooting, Dribbling, Body Movement, Field Vision, Eye-foot coordination and Goalkeeping. By end of U8 players should capable of Dribbling skills including, Dribble with all sides of both feet, Dribble out of trouble, Dribble past someone, Stopping and running with the ball at speed, Shield the ball with body from other players, Demonstrate a soft first touch (including trapping), Demonstrate basics of proper shooting technique, Demonstrate basics of proper passing with reasonable accuracy at 8-12 yards, Very basic tactical skills such as, Maintaining position but moving with play (not chasing the ball everywhere it goes), Moving forward and spreading out when attacking, Retreating and become more compact when defending, Basic quick, coordinated movements with and without the ball. This allows the players to make a seamless transition to our next League, if the parent and player so chooses. Teams practice twice a week and play games on the weekend, typically with 8 games in a season.

Teams at this age continue to compete in the Union County Youth Soccer League. Practicing twice a week, teams continue to develop skill and tactical awarness, whilst competing in a competative league.

Adair is the definition of a "homegrown" talent, and his journey through the ranks has been a joy for our community to watch. His story with PRAA Soccer began all the way back in U8 Rec, where his passion for the game first took root. From those early days, he progressed steadily through our Academy program and climbed every rung of the ladder through NCYSA’s Classic divisions. This spring, that dedication has taken him all the way to the Elite League, proving that hard work and commitment to the pathway truly pay off. This invitation to train at the Atrium Health Performance Park is a well-deserved milestone in his development. Most of this team has been together since U7. What started with learning the basics β where to stand, how to pass, and which goal to attack β has turned into years of shared experiences, practices, and unforgettable moments. β³
That time together has built something special. With strong chemistry and trust, Fury U11 enjoyed an incredible run through their early years, spending many seasons near the top of their divisions. ?
Now, theyβve stepped into Division 1 β where the game is faster, the competition tougher, and every match is a new challenge. ? The results may be harder to come by, but the growth is undeniable. Each game is another step forward. β‘οΈ
Behind it all is a committed coaching staff that has been there since the beginning β developing not just skilled players, but confident teammates who understand effort, resilience, and the value of sticking together. ?β½
And just as important is the community on the sidelines. Over the years, families have grown alongside the team β creating a strong, supportive group that shows up for every early kickoff and long tournament weekend. ? Their encouragement continues to fuel the players through every high and low.

A HUGE congratulations to our very own Grace Hopper on being selected as a recipient of the prestigious Morehead-Cain Scholarship! ??
Out of 2,000+ applicants, the pool was narrowed to 175 finalists, and ultimately just 75 students were awarded the scholarship β and Grace is one of them. Simply incredible!
The Morehead-Cain Scholarship is a fully funded, four-year merit scholarship to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It covers all expenses and includes a distinctive summer enrichment program focused on leadership, public service, and professional development. Recipients are selected based on character, scholarship, leadership, and physical vigor.
Grace continues to represent what our Player Spotlight series is all about β highlighting the amazing accomplishments our athletes achieve both on the field and beyond it. β½
